Thanks to first year library media coordinator Carol Hedrick from Pilot Elementary for this post about "Students as Teachers". One of the activities Pilot is participating in this month is "Students As Teachers". Our fifth grade students created games earlier using the Tiny Tap app. These games were designed for our own kindergarten students here at Pilot. The fifth graders were instructed to create games that would meet the criteria to help kindergarteners master objectives they were working on in their classrooms. Fifth graders are now "teaching" the kindergarten students how to play the games they created. They chose kindergarten partners to work with in the Media Center. Some were siblings, cousins, neighbors, and acquaintances. Both age groups are very excited about this project. They are working very well together, staying on task and engaged.
